Unique Art Styles of India – I

Speaking of Art,  we find different forms of art in different countries. Each one is unique on it’s own.  So is the traditional Indian art. We get to see many types ranging from the Tanjore paintings in the south, which is a type of painting which mainly portrays deities in all their glamour. The painting is embellished with colourful stones, gold foil and beads. They have such a grandeur that one feels like seeing the deity directly in person.

The Northern part has its own beauty, out of which the Madhubani paintings are very popular, and I would say my favourite  too. These paintings depict deities and the common scenes, to nature depicted colourfully.  Traditionally these are drawn on the walls by the women folk of the villages using natural dyes. But, these days the use of other types of paints like Indian ink and acrylic colours are used to help popularise the art form.

I shall write about other unique styles in my upcoming posts. In the mean time if you have come across any other interesting form of art drop in a comment and let me know.
